Part 1. What Are Decor Pikmin?

Decor Pikmin vs. Regular Pikmin

Regular Pikmin have no accessories and function identically in gameplay. Decor Pikmin carry a small ornament or costume piece — a prop, hat, or wearable item — reflecting the type of place where their seedling originated. They have no gameplay advantage; collecting Pikmin costumes across every category and color is the game's primary long-term goal.

The decor is permanent. Once a Pikmin hatches, its costume is fixed regardless of where you walk with it afterward.

How a Pikmin's Original Location Determines Its Decor

Pikmin Bloom reads location category data from OpenStreetMap and Foursquare. When a seedling appears at a spot, the game checks what category that location falls under in those databases — restaurant, library, beach, etc. — and locks that category to the seedling.

The actual building name doesn't matter. A Starbucks tagged as "café" gives café decor; one tagged as "restaurant" gives restaurant decor instead. The visual reality of the place and its database classification often differ, which causes most "wrong decor" frustration.

Part 2. How to Get Decor Pikmin

Method 1: Raise Friendship to 4 Hearts and Send on a Gift Expedition

Every Pikmin has a friendship level shown as hearts. Raise a regular Pikmin's friendship to 4 hearts — through nectar feeding, expeditions, mushroom battles, or flower planting (once per Pikmin per day) — and a gift expedition becomes available. Send it out, and it returns wearing a Decor costume. The decor category reflects where that Pikmin's original seedling wa found.

Note: Pikmin that already came from a Huge or Gold seedling skip this step — they hatch as Decor Pikmin directly.

Method 2: Huge Seedlings, Gold Seedlings, and Rainbow Seedlings

Huge seedlings are found while walking and need 10,000 steps to grow. They always produce a Decor Pikmin, with the category set by where the seedling was found on the map. If you pick up a Huge seedling while standing at a confirmed stadium pure spot, you get a stadium decor Pikmin.

Gold seedlings come from Special Spots at collaboration events, with their decor pre-set to the event category regardless of where you plant them.

Method 3: Limited-Time Events and Special Spots

Collaboration events place Special Spots at real-world venues. Visiting during the event window gives one gold seedling per cycle, producing a limited ornament decor not available through regular location farming. Recent examples include seasonal Valentine's decors and the Super Mario Galaxy Movie collaboration (April–June 2026).

These event decors cannot be obtained after the event closes.

Rare Decor Pikmin: How the Points System Works

Rare Decor Pikmin are a separate tier unlocked only after you've collected every regular Decor Pikmin in a given category. Once the category is complete, a Rare Decor Level indicator appears for that category in your collection.

From there, you earn Rare Decor Points by plucking new Pikmin or releasing Pikmin from the same category. Points accumulate and push the gauge forward — when it fills, your Rare Decor Level goes up by one, and you receive a Rare Decor Gift expedition. Send one of your regular Decor Pikmin from that category on the expedition, and it comes back wearing the rare costume variant.

The level has no cap, so you can keep earning rare variants for categories you've already completed. As of November 2025, Coin Decor Pikmin also have a rare system — rare Coin Decor Pikmin wear a gold version of their regular coin.

Special and Event-Only Decor Pikmin

Event ornaments don't correspond to any permanent location type — chess pieces, Valentine's flowers, Midsommar crowns, movie collaboration items. These only come from gold seedlings during the event window. There's no permanent location you can farm them from afterward.

How to Read Gray and Yellow Decor Icons

In your Decor Pikmin badge list: gray = not yet collected, yellow = you have it. Each category has multiple variants across 8 Pikmin types, so most categories have 5–8 individual entries to fill. Rare Decor variants only appear once the full regular set for that category is complete.

Part 4. Where to Find Decor Pikmin: Locations & Map

Use the Detector Before You Plant

The Detector scans a 100-meter radius around your current position and shows which decor categories are active nearby. The scan locks in place until you move 25 meters, at which point it refreshes. If it shows three categories at once, any seedling found there might come back as any of those three — you can't bias the result.

Always check the Detector before picking up a Huge seedling. A spot that looks like a library might read as library + café + bookstore in the database, making your 10,000-step grow time a three-way lottery.

Decor Pikmin Pure Spot Locations in the US

A pure spot is a location where the Detector shows exactly one decor category within its range. Every seedling found there returns that category — only the Pikmin's color stays random. The following are confirmed US pure spots for the most commonly hunted decor types:

Open the Detector once you arrive to confirm before picking up a seedling — pure spot conditions can shift when new businesses open or map data gets updated.
