Pokémon GO Black Screen? Fix It on iOS 18/26 with NextDNS
Recently, some iOS users have run into the following issues when using the PoGoskill location changer:
- Pokémon GO getting stuck on a black screen during startup after enabling IPlocate.
- After updating to iOS 18 or later, the location automatically resets to the real position.
Why does the Pokémon GO app show a black screen or reset your location on iOS? Here’s the explanation behind the issue—and the best alternative solution for iOS devices.
Why is my iPhone screen black when opening the Pokemon Go app?
Pokémon GO black screen and location reset issues on iOS are caused by conflicts between the new iOS system’s GPS settings and permissions and the location spoofing tools. iOS 18 significantly strengthened its location logic—improving accuracy, adding temporary permission features, optimizing reset and calibration behavior, and enhancing its ability to detect fake locations.
- Tip:
- This issue doesn’t only affect PoGoskill.
- It’s a common problem for all location-spoofing tools.
- The main cause is the updated location detection system in iOS 18.
In short, iOS 18 introduced major upgrades to its location services, making it harder for spoofing tools to function normally compared to earlier versions.
How to Fix Pokémon GO Black Screen and Location Reset Issues on iOS?
A quick fix for Pokémon GO black screen is to first turn off IPlocate, launch Pokémon GO until it fully loads, and then re-enable IPlocate. Also, remember to disable IPlocate before opening any other apps.
Additionally, another recommended solution is to use NextDNS to bypass the GPS verification mechanism in the latest iOS system. This method more effectively resolves Pokémon GO black screen or GPS reset issues and helps prevent errors like Pokémon GO Error 12.
How to use NextDNS on iOS 18/iOS 26
Here’s a step-by-step guide to set up NextDNS on your iPhone, covering both system-wide and app-based methods.
- Go to the App Store and search for NextDNS, install and open it.
- Enable NextDNS, then Tap “open Settings.”

- Tap "DNS," then select "NextDNS."
- Go back to NextDNS and tap the three dots at the bottom.
- Turn off “Use Ultra-Low Latency Network.”
- Open your phone’s browser, go to nextdns.io, and tap “Try it now.”
- Remember this ID in the Setup section, as it will be used later to sync your configuration to the NextDNS mobile app.
- Next, go to the Privacy section and tap "Add a Blocklist." Add the OISD, notracking, and AdGuard-related options to the list.
- In the Privacy section, find “Native Tracking Protection” and add Apple to the list.
- Now go to the "Denylist" section and add the following domains individually:
- akadns.net

- icloud.comedgekey.net
- edgekey.net
- iphone-service.com

- Now, register your NextDNS account to save all settings to your account; otherwise, the settings will expire in 7 days.
- Next, go back to NextDNS on your phone and tap the three dots to open the settings.
- Enable "Use Custom Configuration" and enter the ID you recorded in Step 8.
- Make sure NextDNS is enabled. Now you can use PoGoskill to change your location in Pokémon Go.
Important Things to Note
- Please do not use a VPN at the same time.
- If using WiFi, enable Airplane Mode.
- If you’re using cellular data, turn off WiFi in your phone’s settings (not in the Control Center).
- If your location doesn’t change, try turning Location Services off and on in your phone’s settings (sometimes multiple times).
