From Sep 2 at 10:00 a.m. to Dec 2, 2025, at 9:59 a.m. local, the Tales of Transformation Special Research will be available for free to all trainers to claim. As the event progresses, new special research tasks will keep unlocking.

Kanto Celebration Event and Community Days

As told earlier, Pokémon GO will kick off the Kanto Celebration from September 2 to September 7, 2025, where trainers can catch region-exclusive Pokémon like Chansey, Snorlax, and Abra. Following it are three scheduled Community Days events, with only Flabebe Community Day disclosed as of writing, which is to be held on September 14.

Team Battles and Go Battle League updates

With that said, it's worth noting that Keldeo has already appeared once before in the game. If you managed to catch Keldeo before, just keep playing with it during the event to earn Keldeo Candy in order to power it up and activate its Resolute Form by season’s end.

• Mega Sharpedo: the Mega Evolution of Sharpedo, a Water and Dark-type Pokémon. When it Mega Evolves, Mega Sharpedo gains boosted stats and enhanced combat abilities.

New Gigantamax and Dynamax Pokémon

Likewise, the following new Gigantamax and Dynamax Pokémons will be making their first time debut in the game:

• Gigantamax Garbodor: with its unique G-Max Malodor move, is a tanky Pokémon that excels in toxic support, making it ideal for battles relying on status effects and durability.

• Dynamax Duraludon: a bulky special attacker with strong defensive stats, useful Max Moves for support, and is valuable in Max Raid Battles, providing Steel or Dragon-type coverage.

• Gigantamax Eevee: adds a fun and visually impressive option to Eevee’s forms and offers a unique G-Max move that combines offensive damage with infatuation status effects.

Alongside these, several others are also set to join the event, but their names have not been disclosed yet. If you ask me, I bet my money on Dynamax Articuno, Dynamax Zapdos, and Dynamax Moltres.

Shadow Groudon and Team Go Rocket Spotlight

Oh, how can I forget this!? With Giovanni’s return, Team Go Rocket is also stepping up this season. The new boss challenge introduces Shadow Groudon, a corrupted version of the Legendary Ground-type Pokémon.
